In Australia MLC will start linking healthy lifestyle discounts to the use of wearable tech - in this case a smartwatch tracking activity levels. Healthy lifestyle discounts are not, in themselves, universal, yet (if you ignore non-smoker rates).
The approach here is not to grant a healthy lifestyle discount on the basis of past information given in the application, which is the current, standard, approach. In this case you buy your cover, receive the smartwatch as a free gift, and you get two shots at qualifying for the discount based on some lifestyle goals. It is a clever sales incentive rather than a disruption of the underwriting process.
