Spike in health insurance claims following doctors' strikes

According to Health Funds Association health insurers paid out $1.32 billion in claims in the year ending 31 March 2019, a spike from the previous year, which, according to Healthfunds, is due to doctor strikes causing elective surgery cancellations. In the first strike 15th - 17th of January over 1,000 appointments were delayed across Auckland and a further 174 patients has operations postponed. Click here to read more.
