ACC win for victim after her death

Deanna Trevarthen died in 2016 at age 45 due to a cancer caused by inhaling asbestos. Before her death Deanna applied for ACC cover for treatment costs, weekly compensation, a lump sum and funeral costs but was rejected as it was was a gradual process condition, it needed to be the result of work exposure for there to be cover. This week the High Court has ruled that Deanna should have been entitled to cover from ACC before her death. Click here to read more.
