RBNZ: Insurance sector must evolve in line with increased public expectations and changing risks
The Boundaryless Era: the Time for Distributed Teams

Why claim automation is interesting

Two travel insurance companies, Allianz Global Assistance and Berkshire-Hathaway Travel Protection have teamed up to create some technology to automate travel insurance claims. The software tracks flights and automatically places a claim on behalf of the consumer, it also has other features you can read about here.

Whenever I talk about claim automation people tend to think of it as useful for what someone else is doing - because they understand the complexity in what they do in their own sector more readily than they see it for others. The big challenges for claims automation are use case, including insurable events, access to data, and right parameters for payment. Without scale it can be hard to prove your business case. That makes it at least an order of magnitude harder to deliver in New Zealand. But there is a missing part of the business case which may help you to push the project: winning the prize for trust.
