Website Review

Here at Chatswood, we work closely with advisers and along the way we have picked up a few common gaps in adviser websites. We thought we would share these findings so that you make your website more useful and valuable to your business.

Essential

  • A brief and clear description of the types of financial advice offered as well as services not offered
  • Company name and address
  • Other details that match the companies office
  • An about us section that includes:
    • Names
    • Photos
    • Roles of all in the business
    • FSPR numbers
    • Qualifications
  • Contact details including:
    • Office phone number
    • Mobile numbers
    • Email addresses
  • Listing both your physical address and PO box
  • A landing page with a list of all services offered
  • Initial public disclosure requirements met

Crucially we find that these are often incomplete or when apparently complete can often differ materially from the details in the FSPR and Companies Office register.

Desirable

  • Good, clear, navigation and page layout
  • Call to action
  • Sing up for newsletter
  • Links to social media accounts
  • Client testimonials
  • Responsive - works on mobiles and other screen sizes
  • Secure - green padlock

Excellent

  • Shareable content - does things that make readers go 'wow' and want to tell other people
  • Really well-written stuff that people hang around and actually read / watch / listen to, and share with their friends
  • Reviews
  • Details of how to find the office and where to park
  • Who to call in the event of a claim
  • A claims case study
  • Update my details - log in to the client portal

How we can help

Basic assessment

We will work to assess your website against a set criteria. Our criteria measures the functionality of your adviser business website. Using our objective list we will provide you with feedback on how we believe your website ranks. We will also provide feedback on the necessary steps you will need to make to improve the customer experience of website visitors.

Critical assessment

For those looking to drastically improve the customer experience on their adviser business website, we will pass our basic assessment of your website to Michael Larsen. Michael is an established author and copywriter. Michael is able to offer insight through an extensive audit. Other services Michael can offer those looking to ensure a seamless customer experience:

  • External writing services
  • Defining or refining a corporate style
